MacDonagh Junction, Saturday 12th September, 1-5.30pm

Quite a few members of Future Proof Kilkenny are involved in organising an event this coming Saturday in MacDonagh Junction to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. Please support this initiative if you are in town.

The Reach-Out Event, in MacDonagh Junction on Saturday 12th September from 1-5.30pm will mark World Suicide Prevention Day. The Lifeline network of community groups in conjunction with the HSE Suicide Resource Office and Health Promotion Service are organising their biggest ever, awareness event on this day.

Music from Jar, a young acoustic and jazz band, will kick off the event at 1.00pm and at 2.30pm the deputy major Marie Fitzpatrick will launch the day. A cheque will be presented from Callan Macra Na Feirme to Dave Gray of Lifeline that was raised through their recent tractor drive across the country.

Lifeline currently receives no public funding and these funds will enable the group to organise further events such as public talks and commemoration event. The Lifeline network began in 2004 as a collaboration between, Ossory Youth, Samaritans, The HSE, Shine, Kilkenny Bereavement Group, Rainbows and interested individuals. This will be the 5th such event marking World Suicide Prevention Day.
