One in four mouthfuls of food are pollinated by bees. Einstein once famously calculated that if bees were eliminated from the planet we would have only 4 years to live! So, given their importance in the cycle of life and to raise awareness of the threats to bees, Michael Miklis of the Biodynamic Association (also an active Future Proof Kilkenny member) is organising a week of talks and workshops on bee keeping in late May.
Biodynamic Workshop on Bees
25th until the 28th of May at Castalia Hall, Camphill Ballytobin (Callan, Co.Kilkenny)
The main speaker – Micheal Weiler – comes regularly to the UK to give courses on Bees. He is a demeter bee-keeping adviser in Germany. The course is partially about methods of keeping bees that increase their vitality instead of causing them stress. But Michael will also speak about the broader picture of the being of the bee. The course will be equally interesting for long-term beekeepers as for people that are only interested in bees.
The course will start with an opening talk on monday evening (25th), and will last until thursday midday (28th). The whole course costs € 75 (including meals). Accommodation can be arranged if needed
