Well done to Sinead Cranwell who recently started a Veggie Box scheme here in Kilkenny supplying organic vegetables and Eggs. She goes under the name ‘Heart of the Earth’
As many can’t always make it to Thurs farmers market a box scheme is a welcome initiative as well as an opportunity to support our local growers/farmers.

Locally Grown Organic Produce Delivered To Your Door

HOW DOES IT WORK?
· Each week a box of seasonal vegetables is delivered to your door.
WHAT WILL I BE GETTING?
· Organic seasonal vegetables, grown in Dunmore, Co. Kilkenny.
· Organic free range eggs.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
· You choose the amount you want to spend
· Boxes are available in €15, €20 and €25.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?
· That while signed up to the scheme you will commit to a box of vegetables a week.
· Each week the vegetables will be delivered to your door and you will be expected to pay each week at time of delivery or monthly in advance.
WHAT IF I AM GOING AWAY?
· We expect people to be going on holidays!
· We ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice in advance.
I AM KEEN BUT A LITTLE UNSURE WHAT DO I DO?
· Why not sign up to the scheme for a couple of weeks and if it does not suit you, you can sign off and/or
· Contact Sinead with any questions you have.

As part of the Abhainn Ri Festival, Coillte is contributing to the programme of events by hosting a 2 hour woodland walk on Tuesday evening 26th July at 7pm.
All are welcome to join in the story of ash;  learn about the lifecycle of the forest; find out why timber is such a valuable natural resource and see the rich biodiversity of your local woodland.
There will be much to hear about the social history of Desart Demesne Wood as we walk around this rich habitat.  Meet at the Hoban monument “Spirit of Place” at 7pm.

Ireland’s (surprising) Solar Power resources and opportunities will be amongst the topics discussed at the Convergence Summer Solstice event at Kingsriver.

From 7-9pm on the evening of the Summer Solstice (Tues Jun21st) there will be talks on Irelands solar resource, passive solar design, active solar technologies: solar thermal and solar PV as well as Trees as solar
batteries.

The event continues after 9pm with an evening of song and stories/poems about the sun: this is mainly participatory so bring some culture to share or just singalong.

Light refreshments served, Everyone is welcome and this is a FREE EVENT
