The Green Screen kicks off again this month with 3 excellent films for your viewing pleasure. This year we are holed up in The Hole in the Wall – a beautiful historic building off high street complete with a wine bar downstairs! The season kicks off with The Money Fix to coincide with the start of the Kilkenomics festival next week. Admission to all films is 5 euros.

The Money Fix

Thursday 11th November, 7.30pm

“We have work that needs to be done. We have the workers. What is it that is missing. Pieces of paper?”

This fascinating documentary forces us to re-consider our relationship with what we call money. Beginning with the origins of the current money system the story moves quickly to solutions and why true money is something that should work for us and not the other way round. Talking heads include Michael Linton – designer of LETs systems, Thomas Greco – founder of Reinventing Money, and activist Noam Chomsky. An inspiring documentary for anyone who wishes to understand the true nature of today’s money system, why it is breaking down and what needs to come next.

The End of the Line

Thursday 25th November, 8pm

“A chilling exploration of how our love affair with fish is devastating the world’s oceans”

Filmed over two years, The End of the Line follows the investigative reporter Charles Clover as he confronts politicians and celebrity restaurateurs, who exhibit little regard for the damage they are doing to the oceans.

One of his allies is the former tuna farmer turned whistleblower Roberto Mielgo – on the trail of those destroying the world’s magnificent bluefin tuna population.

Filmed across the world – from the Straits of Gibraltar to the coasts of Senegal and Alaska to the Tokyo fish market – featuring top scientists, indigenous fishermen and fisheries enforcement officials, The End of the Line is a wake-up call to the world.

“Ingenious hoaxers who help restore your faith in humanity”

The Yes Men Fix the World is a screwball true story that follows a couple of gonzo political activists as they infiltrate the world of big business and pull off outrageous pranks that highlight the ways that corporate greed is destroying the planet.

Along the way the duo discover the culprits behind the cult of greed, and in a wildly uplifting ending, they find a way for everyone to defeat the cult and save civilization from its own worst excesses.
