Today’s industrial food system is highly vulnerable to peak oil and a major contributor to global warming. In addition, what we eat, how it is produced and where it comes from causes enormous damage to the environment and to communities around the world.
Ironically, changes to our food systems are the quickest way to lower emissions, reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, restore natural eco-systems and reconnect us with our communities and our environment.
This slide show explores this paradox and was itself inspired by a presentation on Food Security by Bruce Darrell of Feasta at the recent New Emergency Conference.
